This is one of Roadmap's ready-made topic templates — a starting point for tracking something over time without writing a tracking brief from scratch.
Roadmap is an AI-assisted document editor: markdown with a live preview, a discussion panel where you can ask the AI about a specific section and apply its suggested edit straight to the text (you choose exactly what goes into each request's context), version history with restore, and export in multiple formats. Its "AI Update" button, on any document, searches the web for what has changed since you last checked and updates the document — with dates and sources — only when it finds something genuinely new.
To use this template: click "Open in Editor" above to copy it into your own documents, then press "AI Update" whenever you want to check for news. Browse the sidebar for more topics and categories.
Startup Funding: Climate Tech
Brief
Tracking funding rounds for startups in climate tech: company name, round amount and stage, investors, announcement date. Not needed: general "industry trend" overviews without specific deals.
Description
Climate tech funding has recovered from a multi-year decline, but unevenly — concentrating in fewer, larger, later-stage deals, and increasingly overlapping with AI infrastructure investment rather than traditional hard-tech categories.
Overall Funding Recovery
Global climate tech venture and growth investment climbed 8% to $40.5 billion in 2025 after two years of decline. 2025 was a record year for climate fund closes, with 179 funds raising $92 billion in new capital.
2026 Activity
Global equity funding reached roughly $21.5 billion in Q1 2026, with North America alone capturing $10.1 billion. In April–May 2026 alone, about $2.64 billion in financing was disclosed, led by Series C+ (~$1.18B), Series A (~$697M), and Series B (~$434M).
Sector Focus
Nearly 28 cents of every climate equity dollar went to AI-enabled solutions in this period, with data centers alone pulling in nearly $2 billion.
